Now finished until the Autumn
Kayaking events
Each Saturday, throughout the spring/summer/autumn, unless we are out on a club trip, we can usually be found down on the Clevedon's seafront marine lake behind the sea wall at Salthouse Fields. We run Have-Go-Sessions open to the public the first Saturday each month the rest of the time we reserve kit for members only, see details below. We do have a few rules for our sessions on the lake to ensure everyone is safe and gets a fair go: Marine lake rules: Members and Non-members
Members training sessions can be booked by contacting Mike Perrott or Helen Hydes on ![]()

| 03 Aug | Surf Kayaking at Woolacombe Mike Perrott is running a kayak surfing trip to Woolacombe for Sunday August 3rd. Because of the tide it will mean a very early start - i.e. leaving Clevedon around 6.00am. The advantage of this is that parking should be easy and there won't be too many other people on the water. If you wish to go on this trip please reply to events@clevedoncanoeclub.org.uk . If there are enough people wishing to go Mike is willing to take the trailer. If you wish to use Club equipment please mention it in your reply. The £3 day hire charge will apply. You will need to take a change of clothes and food/drink. |

| 06 Sep | Canoe Safari - Slimbridge The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge have opened a new attraction that would make a lovely outing. They have a stretch of water about 1 kilometre long that runs through their grounds, hidden by reeds. Visitors have the opportunity to paddle in open canoes discovering a wetland trail rich in wildlife and native plantlife. They have 20 canoes, which hold between 2-3 people, and the journey lasts about one hour. We would have exclusive use of Slimbridge from 4.30pm onwards, and we would not have to get off the water after the usual one hour limit. They will arrange for a kiosk selling hot/cold drinks and snacks to be open for us. The plan is to finish off the evening with a meal in a local pub. The cost is £10 per person for exclusive use, BUT there is no entrance fee. Could all those interested please email or phone by Monday 21st July to allow for booking. Payment will be needed beforehand. Please contact Alison Holland on (01275) 874090 or email alison@steveholland.wanadoo.co.uk |
| 13-14 Sep | MARLENS Festival: We usually help the public "have-a-go", which goes to raising fund for MARLENS and maintaining the marine lake. Members help to help the public during the weekend much appreciated. |
| 20/21 Sep | Canoeing and Family Fun weekend at St David's, Pembrokeshire Mike Perrott is organising this weekend. The plan is to camp at Lleithyr Farm Campsite which is a pleasant site very close to Whitesands Beach. Mike will organise a surf kayak session at Whitesands on the Saturday morning. On the Sunday morning he will organise a paddle at Porthclais - this has a long safe inlet for beginners and easy access to the sea for slightly more advanced paddlers. The rest of the time you are free to do as you wish, and there is plenty for all the family in the area. Walks on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, shopping in St David's (a surf shop and a brilliant deli), a couple of interesting plant nurseries, cycling on quiet lanes or off road cycling on a disused airfield, a visit to the beautiful St David's Cathedral. Plenty of places to eat. If the weather's good the beach at Whitesands is a great place to be - large car park, toilets and cafe (but you do have to pay to park and it's a dog free zone). We can do all these things as a group or individually, just see how we feel at the time. For anyone who doesn't like camping, there are plenty of B&Bs in the area - Mike particularly recommends the one at Pembrokeshire |
