St Davids, Pembrokshire

After a washout summer, the warm weather promised for the weekend 20/21st Sep meant one last opportunity for some camping and kayaking. So, what better place than Pembrokeshire's St David's, Britains smallest city due its magnificent cathredral. Both Lu Webb and Mike Perrot have advocated the beauty of this coastline for a while, so Mike organised a club trip. A few intrepid explorers set off Friday night, arriving in darkness to pitch tents, so it was the morning sunrise that revealed the glory to come; a day's surf kayaking on Whitesands beach. During the day, a few more members arrived in time for some sightseeing and refreshing beer in the sun in beer garden of one of the local pubs before returning to the campsite to light BBQs and swap paddling tales of the day. To complete a perfect weekend, Sunday's outing was a paddle from Porthclais harbour and rock hopping along the coast, exploring caves and inlets, and even spotting a jellyfish. Tom Barnes also showed that not only are his rolling skills exceptional but he can even walk on water.
