From Axe Vale Canoe Club
Following two years of weather that forced us to cancel the Axe Race, we are trying again to predict a good weather day! We have considered alternate dates and formats and concluded the best approach this year will be to have a reserve date for re-running it in the event of a cancellation. We will also cancel early if the forecast is suitably bad so we can switch to the reserve date. So…
The annual River Axe Race will be held on Sunday 24th March 2019 and is suitable for all paddlers of all ages to have a go (11-70). Organised by the Axe Vale Canoe Club, we typically have 100 boats on the river in about 12 classes depending on the type of boat being used (both kayak and canoe).
We would particularly like to encourage you all to have a go in whatever boat you feel like (from canoe to K1/K2 to sea kayak to slalom kayak to Sit-on & SUP).
The reserve date will be Sunday 8th April.
All the details and booking will be available in early in 2019 on the Axe Vale Club website – at present please just publicise the date to your members if they wish to consider joining us.
If you have any questions please ask.
Thanks and hope to see you there…
